How do I encrypt a file in Windows XP?

When you encrypt a file or folder, you do a conversion to a format that can not read anyone else. An encryption key file you added to the file or folder that you choose for encryption.

3. On the General tab, click advanced.




4. Click the box Encrypt contents to secure data.
